Apple sauce

Apple season is here! Got too many apples? Make this sauce!


3 apples, any kind (I used royal galas)
3/4 cup water
splash of vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
1 tsp brown sugar
1 fresh lemon peel, peeled from end to end

Peel the apples and cut into 1 inch chunks, making sure to remove any seeds.

Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes and remove from the heat to let it cool.

Take out the lemon peel and mash it together to your desired consistency. If there is too much liquid, you can pour some of it out.

Serve at any temperature you desire, with dessert, as a sauce, as a spread, or even on its own :)
